Police Activities League Methods of Giving
The Lake County Police Activities League is a youth crime prevention program that relies on educational, athletic and other recreational activities to cement a bond between police officers and the youth in our community. The program also enhances public awareness about the role of police officers, including the reinforcement of responsible values and attitudes taught by parents. We are a 501-C3 Charity (ID# 3419833874). All donations are tax deductable.
Supporting your local PAL can be done in a variety of ways to include: Financial support, donations of equipment, materials or land/buildings, and volunteers to coach or help with programs. The following information is provided to assist you in maximizing your support by utilizing one of the various methods of giving that will allow you to increase the tax advantage of monetary gifts.
Direct Gifts of Cash:
- Go to LakeCountPAL.com home page or below and use our “Donate” button. This option accepts all major credit cards.
- Mail checks to Lake County PAL, P.O. Box 121646 Clermont Florida 34712. Receipts will be mailed back to donor with tax id information.
Cash Pledges:
Pledges to the Police Activities League may be made over a period of three years (longer for larger gifts). A signed pledge card or letter of intent is required. Tax deductions are earned only on the amounts paid on the pledge in the year the payments are made.
Securities:
Marketable or closely held securities may be given to the Police Activities League. As a direct gift, it is always to the donor’s advantage to make a gift of appreciated securities in avoidance of capital gains tax. Donors wishing to retain their stock holdings will find it advantageous to give appreciated stock and then repurchase the stock, raising their cost basis for capital gains tax consideration.
Planned Gifts:
Significant tax advantages allow planned giving to produce a higher return than many conventional investments. For example, a planned gift can provide life income to a donor or another and ultimately transfer the remainder to the Lake County Activities League at the beneficiary’s death. Publicly traded securities may be used for a Lead Trust that produce income for PAL for a period of years, with the principal reverting to control by the donor, or a beneficiary; estate taxes are saved by removing the property from the donor’s estate and passing it on to the trust’s heirs at the end of the trust’s terms.
Bequests:
Donors may bequeath to the Lake County Police Activities League through their estate; outright charitable gifts are not subject to estate taxes. The two most common forms of gifts by will are the specific sum of money, particular securities or other property, or a residual bequest of all or part of an estate. Bequests can also create income for one or more beneficiaries, with the principal payable to PAL after the death of the last beneficiary.
Thank you for considering our charity for a donation of time, equipment or money. All donations give the youth in Lake County a better opportunity to be mentored by our local Law Enforcement Officers and other responsible citizens who live in our community. Our motto is “Filling playgrounds, not prisons”. Please contact Sgt. Steve Stevenson at 352-267-4701 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
